LONDON – July 23, 2007 – Northrop Grumman Corporation’s (NYSE: NOC) UK-based operation held a technology awareness day at the Ministry of Defence’s (MoD) Abbey Wood facility aimed at raising awareness of Northrop Grumman’s range of UK-based capabilities.
The technology awareness day was organised in conjunction with the Directorate of Supplier Relations. George Gardiner, director Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR), gave the opening address as the MoD’s key supplier representative for Northrop Grumman.
“This awareness day is a logical extension of our strategic relationship with Northrop Grumman,” said Gardiner. “As part of the broader drive to ensure that supply chains operate more effectively, it is helpful to expose to the Integrated Project Team community some of the areas where one of our key suppliers can contribute to technological innovation and the creative exploitation of technologies drawn in from adjacent markets, an area with particular interest for the ISTAR Cluster.”

More than 70 members of the IPT community in the MoD’s Defence Equipment & Support organisation attended the event during which Northrop Grumman demonstrated its UK-based technologies. These included C4ISTAR solutions (strategic & tactical), missile threat countermeasure systems, marine navigation and integrated bridge systems, unmanned ground vehicles for bomb disposal, integrated collaboration environment developed for national security and resilience applications, and VHF and UHF radio systems for Naval and Air Force applications.
“This event brings together products and technologies from across all our businesses to demonstrate Northrop Grumman’s UK-based capability”, commented Graham Thornton, managing director of Northrop Grumman UK. “We hope that this initiative will not only raise awareness but also help us establish new relationships with the IPTs to enable us to respond more effectively to customer needs.”
